Hello all, I remember -and this must be a good 10 years ago now – there was a demo game of the Soccer/Football War (Honduras vs. El Salvador 1969) at the Colours Wargame show in the UK – set on a board replicating a small town with surrounding farmland, I think. I've always been pretty interested in this 'little' war, and whilst the air war attracts some attention, given that it featured some of the last dogfights between piston-engine aircraft, the land war receives less attention. Does anyone out there remember the game in question? Have you tried wargaming the land war? As always, I'm really interested to hear people's thoughts on these lesser-known conflicts, as they can sometimes inspire new ideas/new projects. Cheers all. |

Land war? Heck, I just learned about the air war recently! I'd be curious to see what the esteemed readership shares! A short blog post in where I ponder doing the air war: link |

This book deals mostly with the air war but has pretty darn good covereage of the conflict on the ground as well. Briefly goes over equipment used by both sides. link Additionally, there was a Military Heritage or Military History magazine a few years back that covered the entire conflict. I have planes for the air war and I've always thought about gaming the land battles possibly using Peter Pig's AK47 Republic Rules. I think the land war was pretty heavily in favor of the El Salvadorans until they started running out of fuel and supplies and cooler heads prevailed. Honduran air superiority certainly helped too… |
