Has anyone tried using acrylic craft paint as a primer on resin figures? Durable? Bonds well? Bonds at all? Any other suggestion for brush-on acrylic primer?

Tried it on a couple different kinds of resin. One the paint worked great on another kind it was worthless.

Gesso

I've done it with no problems. I always wash things in hot water with a few drops of washing up liquid before priming.

Gesso is the correct answer. Plain acrylic won't adhere as well. And make sure you wash and scrub the pieces before priming

Depends on the resin used, but I would NEVER use craft paint for a primer.

Wash thoroughly first. I have used white craft paint on resin. BTW I use craft paint as primer all the time without problem on metals or plastics.

Thanks kindly for the advice, gents.

Why not primer? Just curious.
