Yes, 1976-80. Basic and tech school at Lackland, 6 of the coldest months of my life at Kinchlow in northern Michigan and 3 great years at Castle in California. I still wear a jacket with my patches often and people thank me for my service. I tell them "thanks, but I had no hardship. I chased blonds in California for most of it." |

RAF Weapons Engineer for 12 years. |
14Bore | 20 Jan 2019 9:23 a.m. PST |
Also thankfully because I still wear my cold weather helmet liner outside every winter 40 years running. Londonplod – suspect we might have done the same job, fixed gun systems, harpoints and loaded bombs and ammo |

No, USMC. When I was stationed on Okinawa – Camp Schwab – we would ride a bus for an hour and a half just to see the living conditions on Kadena Air Force Base. "They have lawns!" "No one is screaming at them!" "Their food doesn't turn their tongues green!" |

Six years Army. I had an uncle who was in flight school in 1943 but his tendency to land planes when they hadn't touched down yet led to his spending the rest of the war as a paratrooper. LT |
