Yes, 1976-80. Basic and tech school at Lackland, 6 of the coldest months of my life at Kinchlow in northern Michigan and 3 great years at Castle in California. I still wear a jacket with my patches often and people thank me for my service. I tell them "thanks, but I had no hardship. I chased blonds in California for most of it."

Londonplod20 Jan 2019 9:11 a.m. PST

RAF Weapons Engineer for 12 years.

14Bore20 Jan 2019 9:23 a.m. PST

Also thankfully because I still wear my cold weather helmet liner outside every winter 40 years running.

Londonplod – suspect we might have done the same job, fixed gun systems, harpoints and loaded bombs and ammo

WarWizard20 Jan 2019 9:38 a.m. PST

Yes

Martin Rapier20 Jan 2019 10:18 a.m. PST

No, but my father was in the RAF. Bizarrely, I've still got his heliograph.

My Uncle Stan was also in the RAF, but was invalided out after a 'bombing up incident'.

No, USMC.

When I was stationed on Okinawa – Camp Schwab – we would ride a bus for an hour and a half just to see the living conditions on Kadena Air Force Base.

"They have lawns!"

"No one is screaming at them!"

"Their food doesn't turn their tongues green!"

Systems Command but ain't sure).

No , but my brother retired from it. I was in the Army for three years.

brass121 Jan 2019 9:43 a.m. PST

Six years Army. I had an uncle who was in flight school in 1943 but his tendency to land planes when they hadn't touched down yet led to his spending the rest of the war as a paratrooper.

LT

Roderick Robertson Fezian21 Jan 2019 11:38 a.m. PST

No, but my dad was in the RCAF during WW II.

Was up for the OBE, but decided he wanted to demob rather than hang around for another couple months, so ended up with MBE instead.
