I have several vacuform diorama bases, like the IMEX Battle of Monmouth linked below. A few of them have individual vignettes, like a rock outcrop, that are meant to be cut out. Does anyone have an easy method for stiffening or strengthening these up for painting and game table use? I've found a recommendation for stiffening with square dowel rods; but that looked rather tedious. IMEX example => link Thanks in advance, -Joel T. |

If weight is not an issue fill with plaster. The modern expanding foam in a can might work but it could also deform the model, perhaps placing it in sand first could prevent that. Robert |

Put some cut out cardboard under it. Use caulk to glue it to mdf and that should help. Thanks. |

I recall seeing a spray, possibly some sort of pictures, that gave a very hard surface. Can't remember where I saw it though |
