The original post goes way beyond "top 10"!

I expect ground combat to take place mostly on habitable planets, so I recommend having terrain related to agriculture.

Whatya mean….there's only ruined cities & skulls….right?

I kid. Let's see.

1) Spaceship interior.
2) Natural alien terrain (bio-terrain)
3) Alien structures/ domiciles.
4) River & bridge.
5) Rolling hills & trees.
6) Defensive structures/ fortifications.
7) Landing pads/ hangers (spaceport)
8) Gritty industrial terrain/ factory district
9) Desert/ badlands/ wastelands, w/ rock spires.
10) ruined cities (w/ skulls of course).

You got lazy and merged three lists. Other than natural terrain features, there is darn near no overlap between VSF and post-Appoc SF, and neither of those have much overlap with space opera.

Pulp and VSF DO overlap quite a bit, though. And you want at least one lost race with architecture and figures borrowed from your ancient or medieval collection.

You've also got no VSF urban terrain. Depending on the campaign, you need either straight stuff and probably London ("the time-traveling morlocks are attacking Buckingham Palace!") or, if you will, Clockwork Britannia with things like the Ornithopter Landing Field at Gatwick and the Dirigible Tower at Heathrow, or possibly the Babbage Engine which has replaced the British Museum Reading Room.

It's a poll suggestion, not the actual top 10. So nominate what you like, and eventually we'll vote!

Yeah, perhaps I did decide to overlap a bit too much here. Feel free to generate a more narrowly defined poll!

The classic rope bridge over the river/gorge. I find for pulp you need a few vehicles and an older plane

I use Hirst Arts Egyptian building tiles to pull all of these genres together.

Ancient Ruins are always useful. That, and, hills and trees of all types can be used for lots of different table setups.

"there is darn near no overlap between VSF and post-Appoc SF,"
Abney Park would like to 'ave words…
"and neither of those have much overlap with space opera."
And Frank Chadwick joins the queue.
