Anyone know from what year of the sixteenth century, the 12 apostles were used by the musketeers and if and when they were by the arquebusiers? |

There are rare single users of them from the 1530ies (eg on the battle of Pavia, or on the Conquest of Tunis tapestries). The "Triumphzug" of 1519 shows some necklaces that look like predecessors of the apostles, though they are an exception there. It seems that a flask with powder predates the apostles, being worn around the neck, and these landsknechts on the Triumphzug added single packs to this chain. Afaik there are no apostles before, and in later periods some battle depictions omit them (like Mühlberg 1544), though these do not seem to dwell on details anyway. Not sure how far and wide they spread before they became common, so. |

They are commonly worn during the FWOR (French War of Religion) by the arquebusiers and musketeers? |
