Well I've finally got myself a PS4 Pro.
70% because I wanted RDR2 and 30% because it's the only machine that has all the streaming apps we use. Our Blu-ray player only has YouTube and Netflix.

Anyway I'm now quite a a few hours into the game. It's not so much a 3rd person western shooting games as a western experience simulator thing.

Endless stuff to do some of it worthwhile other things silly and unnecessary.
Want to add some money to the gang treasury.
Rob trains, steal stagecoaches or rob a bank.

The game has gotten some criticism for the detailed "realism" you have to work the bolt/lever/hammer on the guns(I think a first for a big AAA game)
By default you only carry your sidearms, the long guns are stowed on your horse and you have to remember to get them before going someplace without your horse.

You also have to bond with the horse (brush/pat/feed.

None of these things bother me. It helps with emersion. And quite frankly it takes you next to no time to give your horse some food or brush it.

The graphics are fantastic, and it would look even better if I'd have a more modern TV(it's now 10 years old)

I like that atleast for some of the major characters they've gone away from the horrific over the top caricatures that was seen in GTA V. Still some stupid clichéd caricatures in the game but mostly secondary caricatures.

I got it for Christmas and I'm really enjoying it as well. I'm up to Chapter 5, not sure how far through the whole game that is though!

The graphics are fantastic, as is the size/detail of the map they've built. Each region/town has their own type of climate as well, as we saw in GTAV, which helps in remembering where you've been.

The gun realism is nice but frustrating at the same time! Especially when you're stuck in the open with the guy in your sights and he's happily shooting you!

I think this game is designed to be much more 'real' than GTAV ever was, it doesn't have that same humour level with the characters you mention. It's still there from time to time, but tends to be in conversations you overhear as you're wandering about.

There's a few things which have bugged me so far, not major issues, but a bit annoying:

- The first is if you manage to get your horse killed, then he's dead, full stop. You have to get a new one and start again with the bonding. You keep all of the stuff that was on your saddle though.

- Second, the time it takes to travel across the map. It's made a lot nicer with the scenery and random events that pop up along the way, but sometimes you just want to get there and crack on with the next mission/job. I've heard rumour of a 'time jump' type feature, where you can jump straight to a location, but I've not found it yet.

- Finally, the Wanted aspect can be a pain when you're inadvertantly dragged into something. If you get attacked at the side of a road and fight back, you can end up being 'Wanted' without actually doing anything. You then have to go and pay a bounty or keep fighting off the bounty hunters when they come for you.

All in all though, an outstanding game that'll be keeping me entertained for some time to come I expect!

Daughter got it and a new game system,as well. She already went through the whole game (as a good guy, basically). She was sad to have already "finished" the game. I reminded her she had not finished the game. She could do the whole thing again ……. as a bad guy.

She loves that game.

I came to chapter 3 last night.
So far it's my favourite. Stealing moonshine from and killing KKKs is a great pastime.
I also think that the Louisiana bayou so far is the prettiest place so far in the game
