I'm looking for a bunch of 20mm and 40mm tubs and other accessories for some of my 1/2400 ships, just to plus some up and then others for 'what if' fits. I can not afford to get loads of GHQ and CinC ships just for the add ons. Any suggestions? Thank you!

You can buy them from GHQ. They are not inexpensive and you need to know from which model you want the parts. I forget the ship name but the USN ww2 LSD has a sprue with 20mm gun tubs and, I think, some twin 40mm tubs. Most middle to late war USN models have a sprue with 5 or 7 quad 40mm gun tubs

I ordered some sprues from GHQ to get 1.1" gun tubs for a Lexington '42 kitbash. I've put several of them on, but to tell the truth, all you can really visualize is a small round disk with something in/on top.

Figure the diameter of the tubs. Get plastic rod that is about right to scale. CAREFULLY, cut a disk. Glue it down and paint a "gunnish" looking something on top. If you are dubious, get some GHQ tubs and put them alongside the plastic disc tubs. I very much doubt you'll be able to tell any difference without a magnifier.

Find something you like on Shapeways (like one of these?) and ask the creator to re-scale it for you. That sometimes works.

You might be able to adapt the WTJ fighting tops. I agree with KPinder, it only takes a hint of color variation in the middle to suggest a "gun", so a bit of wire in the mast hole would probably work.

For just a few thousand bucks, you can get your own 3D printer and start making your own prints. After you learn to use the CAD software, of course…

Yellow, that's a great link, thank you!

KPinder, thank you for the ideas

dragon6, was trying to avoid having to buy whole models just to get the extras; another friend said I could buy sprues alone, so may try that.

Dragon6 is right GHQ will sell sprues separately. But, as he noted, they are not inexpensive.
