Does anybody make, or is there even any interest in making, half river pieces. These would be a river bank and water, more or less out to the middle of the river. The idea would be to have this on one edge of the table. An historical example would be the Danube at Blenheim, where both armies deployed with the river protecting one flank. The Tennessee at Shiloh would be another example.

I had a "coastline" made by Hotz Matts that has served as a riverbank. The second photo down shows it portraying the bank of the St.Lawerance River for the battle of Chrysler's Farm in 1813.

I've seen them in vinyl, I think, a while back. As Gelngarry says, coastlines or big rivers. Generally, though, I feel they use up precious table space. If there's in impassable river, it's just off a table edge and permissible entry points are bridges and fords.

Actually, if you want to a battle with shore and water action they are needed. For example, Second day of Shiloh, or action on the Nile during the Mahdist Uprising.

Dude, how about taking existing "rivers" and cutting them in half?
Voila……..two sets of half rivers.

No real interest for me, though I can see some uses for them.

A lot of people simply announce they're just off-board, instead of bothering to model them.

I understand, tho' having half rivers can allow double width rivers if you want, say, to do a Rhine crossing!
