Hello All, I have pulled put my copy of the old Stargrunt II rules in the hopes of using them with my 40K minis. I am curious are there rules for infantry close assaulting tanks/vehicles in the book? Has anyone made house rules related to that? Thanks |

I can't think of it ever coming up in a StarGrunt game, although I've seen plenty of infantry-to-infantry close assaults. Vehicle close assaults against infantry could probably use a house rule, although, again, I've never seen it in a game, even with tracked and wheeled vehicles on the table. |

I have included rules for assaulting vehicles in my house rules. See kriegspiel.com.au/dustup I use a heavily modified close assault system and would be interested in any feedback. I also have some draft 40k rules, so if you do give stargrunt a go, let me know and it might motivate me to finish writing up the 40k conversion. |

@tmason: The Dustup vehicle assault rules look simple and playable. If I get a chance to run them, I'll post an AAR. |

Cheers. They are mainly to cover "mechs" and monsters but should work for regular vehicles too. The real change is in the "courage test" which simplifies the initial phase of close assault and, if the assault is set up right, should force a decision without the actual hand to hand occurring. I have been playing games with Humans (imperial guard) against aliens (tyranids) and so far it seems to work ok. For anyone consider using stargrunt/ dustup for 40k, I think it is fair to warn you that games take longer. You don't move, shoot then charge, but take a few turns to soften up the enemy and shooting tends to cause minimal casualties. |
