Isn't the Congo on the opposite side of Africa from Zanzibar?

Not only is the geography a problem, Zanzibar was a busy, metropolitan port city, while the Congo is a bunch of jungle. Zanzibar was certainly part of the Islamic world since the beginning (nearly), but Islam only got to the Congo a couple hundred years ago and is only 1.4% of the population.

The blog doesn't give a reason for this appellation, but that's okay, the figures are great.

Figures are for the game Congo. The faction is called the Sultanate of Zanzibar.

I didn't have the time to fully explain things. I needed to get the blog post up for the customer to be able to see the images of the figures.

It's actually explained fairly clearly in your blog entry:

This is a warband for the miniatures game Congo. The Sultanate of Zanzibar is one of the factions. *

*unless you added this later…

Frankly, kind'a funny to think that people here -- on THIS board of all boards -- don't know about a game that's pretty well known -- and advertised by Wargames Foundry w/ its boxed sets for the game! -- like Congo?? Or know about its factions!!??

The rules have been pretty prominently displayed at our "Local" for a good 18 months or longer -- IIRC! And, there's been a game hosted at each of "Cold Wars," "Historicon," and "Fall In!" for at least the last year if not for two years???

Codsticker: I did add that later since there seemed to be some confusion and I had a spare moment.

Thanks Tango for the compliment.

Come In Nighthawk: Yeah, I found that odd, too.

Some of us live pretty insulated lives. I really didn't know that there was a game called Congo. Now I'll have look for it and see if I can get into a game at a convention. The miniatures look really good.
