I prefer Union in the ACW and Scots in the ECW but I'll play anything. I don't like playing WWII Germans, and there are usually others who do.

The only thing I've ever seen was years ago one person I gamed with didn't want to play as the SS in a WW2 game. We just switch him to regular German army.

It must be because I am American but as far as the ECW troops go, they all look alike to me, so what exactly is the opposition to a given side about? Just close your eyes and pretend she's pretty.

Thinking people prefer Parliament, those who blindly follow those in authority prefer Royalist :-)

Mollinary06 Mar 2019 12:22 p.m. PST

Given that a thinking person would never come up with anything that simplistic, you would be a Royalist? :-)

Proudly East Anglian, so not a chance!

English Thegn10 Mar 2019 3:16 p.m. PST

Hmm, believing in the divine right of kings is pretty simplistic…and wrong. Like East Anglia the county of Surrey was staunchly Parliamentarian so I'm with you 12thFoot!

I wouldn't be very keen on playing Royalists in an ECW game. Then again, I wouldn't be very keen on playing Parliamentarians in an ECW game either.

Never come across the issue with ECW gaming.

Struggle to play the parliament. Anybody who bans Christmas and singing….

12thFoot18 Apr 2019 6:24 a.m. PST

As opposed to arbitrary taxes, monopolies, tax farming and land enclosures?

Scipio9918 Apr 2019 10:05 a.m. PST

@12thFoot We should play! I have a regiment of Prince Maurices finest to put up against the bowl haircuts. Live in Brighton but have mobile table, if you fancy a game.

There was this player I once knew who was black and painted all of his armies as black men, including his entire confederate collection. I thought that was funny. Expensive and weird too…but funny.

So you just game the Scots campaigns ?
