After recently watching this film yet again, it struck me that the Target for Tonight rules for WWII Lancaster bombing raids could perhaps be adapted for going nuclear combat toe to toe with the Rookies. Any thoughts on a good reading list to inspire a conversion? |

You could. See my posting on FB. I plan on using AirWar:C21 rules, instead, with home-brew scenarios for various time periods. Need someone to produce some Bomarc and Nike missiles in 1/600th scale. Would also appreciate some 1/600th HAWKs too, for tactical battles. |

Sad that people don't read the question advanced by the thread author. "Any thoughts on a good reading list to inspire a conversion". The book which is the basis for the movie is Red Menace. |

He's also asked various questions on other threads, Allen, so don't be so condescending to those trying to assist. |

Add Dale Brown's 'Flight of the Old Dog' to the list. Crazy ops with a B52! And you cannot forget 'Fail Safe.'

"The Penetrators" by (I think) Anthony Gray (a pseudonym IIRC). UK air command decides to demonstrate the continuing effectiveness of manned bombers by "attacking" the US with a Vulcan. Snafus lead to a Failsafe- like scenario; written during the 60s when ICBM advocates were threatening to replace manned aircraft in the strategic role. |

Actually ,the source book title was "Red Alert",Allen. And I smiled when George C. Scott delivered his "I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed…"speech. |
