pzivh, I try to avoid long games these days--and I prefer horse & musket. I went through Cold Wars Friday PEL early this week, and wasn't even vaguely tempted. Seemed as though most of what they had was computer-moderated, and my feeling is that if a computer gets to tell me my tactics didn't succeed or my order isn't allowed for an unknown reason, I should still be drawing a salary. Not the sort of thing I do for free. And of course if I rolled in at my customary Thursday evening, the earliest flea market would be 27 hours away. (They tell me this is an improvement, but no one's told me who it's an improvement for.) I figure a night at the Host and a day of eating out is $150. USD That's a fairly stiff price for no games and no flea market. |

FYI, there are plenty of horse and musket games on the schedule for Cold Wars. In addition to the ones hosted by epturner, there are about 20+ more. If I get a chance, I'll list them here. That's not including the games using the Carnage and Glory II computer moderated rules which, by the way, will be some of the best looking games at the convention. Hope to see you there. |
