Can't find anyone who makes this vehicle (Pz IV/70) in 20mm. Need it to equip German unit in Bulge game.

Can substitute JPz IV/70 but wanted to do exact vehicle if possible for convention game.

Anyone know of a company that makes them?

If your 20mm is the same as 1/76…

If you find the old Matchbox model in the box – be careful the treads on my model were very brittle and fell apart at the touch.

If you prefer metal vehicle for that extra heft then SHQ Miniatures do one (GV117 Jagdpanzer IV & IV/70(v),1944-45).

Dragon metal also I think

I'm curious, the OP asked for a Pz IV/70, which I've never heard of, all the links are to JgPz IV/70 which the OP says he does not want to use as it's not the same.

What is a Pz IV/70 if it's not a JgPz IV?

Perhaps Thomas Thomas you are looking for the L70 vs L48 armed JgPz?

Bashytubits03 Jan 2019 12:11 p.m. PST

I can 3D print that vehicle in 1/72. Here is a CAD screenshot of the model.

Usually the name Panzer IV L/70 refers to the hybrid Jpz IV L/70 produced by Alkett rather than the more familiar Vomag model being talked about above. Organizationally these were used in Pz IV units to give them a better gun, whereas the Vomag vehicles were IIRC used in the AT gun battalions of armored divisions, among other units (I'd have to re-check the Spielberger book to see who got what; they were also used in the Panzer Brigades as well).

The Rapid Fire model referred to above is the vehicle the OP asked for. It appears to have a base though, which is not to everyone's taste.

Bashytubits04 Jan 2019 12:07 a.m. PST

Well that is a variant I was unaware of. I found some images of supposedly the only extant vehicle still around.

So I did some work on CAD and this is what I came up with. I can 3D print this in all the major scales. The OP asked for 20mm and this can be done in 1/72 no problem.

If we're talking about old Models like the Matchbox one, then I'll mention that IIRC Esci also had one in 1/72.

Milicast do both the L48 with muzzle brake and L70 without.

The Matchbox kit was the later version with the L70 gun

Nee knew that. Interesting, and this post shows the versatility of 3D prints

Murvihill05 Jan 2019 12:40 p.m. PST

I have one in resin, 1/76 scale. Don't remember who made it, but I got the impression they were last-ditch. But if you have a source or just want one, have at it.

Thomas Thomas07 Jan 2019 2:19 p.m. PST

Most of the references given are for the JPz IV/L70 not the Pz IV/L70. As several have pointed out this is a version built straight onto production PZ IV hulls, so lacks the sleek look of true JPz IVs.

I don't have a 3D printer so must get ready to built models.

Rapid Fire version is correct but postage is prohibitive.

I recently made up this venerable old kit from Hasegawa in 1/72. It holds up very well for its age. The crew member is from a Plastic Soldier Company set so that should give you some idea of how it looks for scale.

Tactical, that's excellent work but the original poster is looking for the Alkett version of the same, with the high superstructure.

Bashytubits16 Jan 2019 1:35 p.m. PST

I just noticed your earlier post e mail has been sent.

historygamer19 Jan 2019 1:34 p.m. PST

I am assuming you need these for the Fuhrer Begleit Brigade, as I believe they were the only unit in that battle to field Guderian's ducks – at least I think that's what they were derisively referred to as.

Nice work Tacticalpainter.
