The rear guard action at La Trepa is one of the interesting scenarios of the Northern Portugal compaign as it is the only engagement where cavalry fought infantry. This does require some skill to pull off for both sides. Test results with photo scan be found at the blog. link Cheers, Robert |

Very interesting and unusual little action. It seems that the rules performed well. As always, your terrain is superb! |

Thank you for the comments. At the end of the test series I will post to the Fanaticus forum some optional rules inspired by the Iberian campaigns. Chaves next week. |

Nice alternative to the combat on the Coa (which is a great scenario to pull on newbies without knowledge of the OoB and fog of war). |

The sources I read made no references to time of day or weather only that the rear guard was caught and incurred a loss of 1,200 troops. It is possible poor visiblilty helped the French gain a surprise assault on the column or rain inhibited the effective use of muskets. As the scenario was played, the Spanish player still has a hard task without the additional problem of adverse weather. |
