"Transport yourself back in time with this very special Noise Marine miniature! We've taken the iconic 1991 Jes Goodwin Noise Marine and given him a makeover, bringing to life the classic details you know and love – guitar, mohawk, high heels and all! – in incredible detail.

Blank shoulder pads allow you to dedicate your Noise Marine to any Legion you see fit, while an included datasheet and matched play points allow you to bring this hedonistic champion to your battles…."

Bought this a couple of weeks ago. Zebra stripes and leopard spots. So '80's.

Price point is ridiculous.

Once again, demonstrating GW's predilection/standard of Over-the-Top … waaaay over the top ! evil grin

Pictors Studio08 Jan 2019 7:44 a.m. PST

Price point can't be ridiculous. When I went to pick up the one I ordered the store couldn't get it because GW sold out of them.

No accounting for individual tastes … E.g. Some guys like liver too! huh?

Jeez, what a horrifically ugly model.

Umm… Yes it can (price being ridiculous), it may just be the production run was not ridiculous, but rather small, hense they sell out fast to those few wanting to spend the listed price. I have not checked either number, in this instance, but it could explain the situation.

I don't mind the figure, as it is just a revamp of the older figure. Although a rerelease may have been nicer, cheaper and more popular among the target fans.

A comparison pic.

No it can't. If the price point was ridiculous no one would have bought it. The price point was right in line with plenty of other GW figures and they sell many of them.

"hense (sic) they sell out fast to those few wanting to spend the listed price."

And if that were the case they probably would not be expanding their US distribution center, but they are.

They simply can't keep up with the demand for their stuff.

So no, the price point is not ridiculous.

"The price point was right in line with plenty of other GW figures…"

Which many would say also have ridiculous prices.

So it's your opinion vs theirs, as to the exact value of ridiculous. Good luck!

Also many companies expand, infact that is typically their sole occupation, weather they are making money or not. At some point it may go the other way, as GW already has in the past. They had stores popping up everywhere in the 90s. Now they are abandoning malls for back alleys and their hours have dropped.

Time will tell.

I love the gloom and doom you always project even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. It is an interesting strategy to try to redirect when you don't have much of an argument.

At the current prices of models GW is doing gangbuster business. They are breaking all kinds of sales records. They are expanding because they can't keep up with demand.

Of course this won't last forever, no one is claiming it will.

The point is that the price point is reasonable because at the price point people are buying the models enough to make the business not only profitable, but profitable at record levels for that business. People are buying so much that the company needs to expand its infrastructure to keep up.

It is not a matter of opinion. A price is not ridiculous if you can make money selling your thing at that price. You're just wrong.

Obviously something is going on for them to be opening new distribution centres. However the Rosey World you paint may not be it. Being a listed company they have many shareholders to appease. There may also be New money coming in from New investment, not just sales. Not to mention debt may be being accumulated.

One may also wonder how they calculate sales. Is stock sitting on independent shelves (or even their own) and still owned by GW counted in the information they provide to the public? If so, then having more buildings full of stock may only add to confusion. If such stock is not counted, then they have a lot of money sitting idle. This does happen, especially in larger companies. Just because they make a lot of stuff, does not mean they sell a lot of stuff, and the money they are throwing around may not always be only from sales of their product.

There are many companies that are spending money like crazy, yet do not make money outside of investment.

GW are clearly selling product, but how much and is that the only money they are getting?

Pictors Studio04 Feb 2019 12:54 a.m. PST

I'm not painting a "Rosey World." Their financial report is. It is available if you want to go and read it.

I don't know how they are counting sales but I know that both of my FLGS sell out of the new stuff when it comes out and they often can't get even older stuff for weeks at a time because it is behind in production.

"There are many companies that are spending money like crazy, yet do not make money outside of investment."

GW isn't one of them. Read the financial report, they are selling hand-over-fist.

They get money from licensing too, but it is a small amount compared to their revenue from sales of Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40K products.

They are making a great product. People are recognizing it and they are buying it.

The H Man04 Feb 2019 1:02 a.m. PST

Ha ha

"They are making a great product. People are recognizing it and they are buying it."

The exact opposite is also true.

It's all good.
