Anyone played these yet? What did you think?

I own them and read through them. Haven't played them however. The rules seem fairly straightforward and streamlined which I like. They have basic organization for the armies involved during the first year of war on the Western Front and some basic scenarios. I bought them to give a look even tho I use a club set of homegrown rules that I like very much.

I picked up a Brigade pack of the British and I really like the figures. They are bulkier than Kallistra but about the same size and definitely bigger than the 10mm ranges out there. My armies are almost exclusively Magister Militum so I'm not sure what I will do with these gents.

I'd agree with Prince Albert's assessment. I haven't played them yet either, but I have played their predecessor, Iron Cross. It gave a simple, fast game. Fun with some decision making and planning and thinking involved. There were some oddities, but they were easily fixed.

(In Iron Cross, if an infantry unit moves, it doesn't incur a shooting penalty, but it does get a positive modifier for shooting directed at it. So you end up with this silly sight of units shuffling a few inches left, then a few inches right. So we just ignored that modifier)

I played one game solo. It's probably not the best set of rules for solo play. There was one or two rules I found a bit odd/didn't understand. I had a look at the Great Escape Games forum, there doesn't seem to be much activity there and almost nothing about 1914.
