Time to prep, attach, paint, and seal 10 spears on Ottoman Cavalry : 15 min. The above fifteen minutes does not include … Time to find that one damn spear I dropped on the ground : 45 min. Time I would be in the doghouse if I got another spear and SWMBO found the spear with her foot : 108 – (current age) years. Sound familiar? |

Every project has that moment. You would think by now I would put something on the floor to find it easier. Nope, need to re-invent the wheel each time! |

It's not the strip of 6mm Austrian SYW flags which went AWOL this morning. It's not even the 2mm blocks which turned up when I swept the table: it's the honking big file I use to get the flash off bases. It must be a foot long, and it's been missing for better than a month. And the day I go off to a hardware store and buy one not quite as good, the old one will crawl out from wherever it's been hiding. |

I'm convinced that the only solution to losing bits is to have a white cloth under the work table. Not that I've done that mind you, but it is a good idea. |

I thought my hobby table was the only place with a time/space warp where something I know I had disappeared until I finally broke down & bought another one. BTW my wife bought me a headband light…works great for finding bits I drop on the grey carpet tiles in my hobby room. |

Kinda like the clothes washer and dryer, they always eat just one sock, usually the left one, and leave the other to annoy. By the way, what does SWMBO stand for, I'm unfamiliar with that acronym, I generally refer to her as either "The Spousal Unit" or "She who is to be obeyed". |

Close, von Schwartz, "She who must be obeyed" As found in Rider Haggard and "Rumpole of the Bailey" |

Everything I know about looking for escaped bits I learned in 50 years of wearing contact lenses--including that sometimes the escaped bit wins. There are two solutions to sockophages, by the way. 1. All socks are pinned together by pairs with big brass pins prior to washing. 2. All socks are purchased in big bags of identical socks, so when one has a hole in the big toe and another one wears thin on the heel, their buddies make a new and identical pair. |

Weapons testing on the ladies is definitely not a good idea.

Dagwood, YEAH, I knew I had heard that some where before. Thanks for tweaking my deficient memory. |

All socks are purchased in big bags of identical socks, so when one has a hole in the big toe and another one wears thin on the heel, their buddies make a new and identical pair. Slight mod … two styles of sock – black dress socks and white athletic socks. Also, in the modern age (I've done this since university), you can bookmark your favourite brand/style on an online provider, so you don't have to wait until you are down to two pairs before you restock. |

I'm doing that with my underwear, "Buck Naked" good brand, great name, keeps the boys together. |
