As unfortunately the nice site of Lars-Holger Thümmler is not available anymore, I decided to scan all plates of the famous Knötel Uniformenkunde relating to "our" period of 1789 to 1815 and to add them to the uniform section of Napoleon Online.

Just click on the link to get to this section; all 565 plates can be studied and downloaded.

Althouth published between 1890 and 1939 the "Knötel" plates are an essential source for uniform studies.

Kind regards from Berlin

Thank you for giving us access again to this wonderful series! A great service to us wargamers, and history "buffs!"

Great! A very important collection of work. I remember in the 60's or 70's driving to Cincinnati to the library to look at them. I had a few myself, but not many.

This is incredible. Over 500 colour plates which were indeed lost to us.

Is there not some fear that new, threatened, EU regulations might invoke copyright rules shortly that will cripple photo sharing sites?

What you have given us is marvellous. Thanks

Deadhead,

I always keep my eye on the author's rights and only publish those series I'm allowed to.

I scanned my own collection of plates (and gathered the missing ones from some friends) :-)

Kind regards
Markus Stein

@NapStein

Thanks for doing this. I love the Knotel plates, and have wanted to find a resource like this for some time. Much obliged :-)
