I got my wish list anyway.

No more figures please. He took the hint.

"Imperial Bayonets", Stephen Clarke's "The French Revolution and what went wrong" and "Wellington's Foot Guards at Waterloo"

Hope you all have a great day and that the economy survives the coming week.

Let's hear if you have been naughty or nice and what you got. (and seven is not a "marginal age", whatever we heard today, not sure that seventy is! I believe.)

The big box of OGRE Paneuropean vehicles from the second vehicle kickstarter. Still too much unpainted and unread stuff in the house, but these were too good--and too quick to assemble and paint--to pass up.

Now, as soon as SJG gets around to the Combine vehicles…

Brechtel19825 Dec 2018 8:41 a.m. PST

An old Britains set of Royal Canadian Mounted Police in excellent condition still in the original box.

Two Keith Rocco prints-one Napoleonic and the other American Civil War, the latter being an artillery print to boot.

Two pairs of Sketcher's shoes.

A mouse pad.

And a new book by Max Boot on Conservatism, or the lack of it.

A blank tape measure. Once it has been properly marked my RF&F 12# Napoleons will be able to fire out to a proper 1500 yards instead of a measly 60 inches.

What a brilliant response. Wish I had cross posted beyond Napoleonics!

Biggest laugh in our house was a small, but very expensive, box, in brown leather, from Sage Brown….for my two hearing aids. As I am in the trade I knew my high frequencies were gefucht as the Prussians might have put it. But this little box probably cost more than the two HAs…it is nice!.

What I did not want was any more figures. I am actually a bit stuck for inspiration now. Several bucket list projects now completed…….and I do have a couple of medical articles half done and awaiting submission (to a journal for which I am an assistant editor, which cannot hurt)

Augustus has been naughty. Santa brought nothing.

Blimey. Nothing. Nowt! An empty stocking. Gosh. Jolly unpleasant I would have thought.

Tha'd have to be blooming pouting or sulking (according to the song) for that!

Santa is clever. He (or maybe she) still knows just what we want for Christmas, even if it is Napoleonic minutiae. How does he/she know about Cruel Seas or green flocking?

Most unfortunate media thing from US today. I watched my grandkids tracking Santa on the Norad website last night. They watched him cross from Hong Kong into Hanoi and then Laos etc as he headed west.

I still believe and I am way beyond seven years old.

Mutant Q25 Dec 2018 3:46 p.m. PST

And the first Christmas for years when I wasn't working.

A new Homebrewer's Journal (filled in the last one)
Socks,
Knob Creek,
Hiking Boots,
Gerber Pocket Knife,
way too much chocolate and beer
Not all of our hobbies cross paths … and that's just fine.

Ryan T25 Dec 2018 7:24 p.m. PST

dragon6: The background of the tape is white so black markings every 50 yards out to 1000 yards. Then up to 2000 yards in 100 yard increments. Every 500 yard marking done in red. The markings in indelible black and red Sharpie or pre-printed labels.

When measuring round up to the nearest 50 or 100 yards. This both speeds up play and by thinking in yards rather than inches gives the players a feel for the actual size of the battlefield.

AussieAndy25 Dec 2018 7:59 p.m. PST

A house. 1-1 scale, with a nice big room for my wargames table(s) and plenty of room to build a dedicated wargames facility if I so choose. We move in February.

Kevin in Albuquerque25 Dec 2018 8:24 p.m. PST

Two novels, one a Goldsworthy piece of historical fiction.
Two CD's, one a 1972 recording of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble I've been looking for for ages.
A nice flannel shirt
A new windbreaker to replace the old one that finally fell apart.
An Acoma 9" tall piece of pottery, very nice addition to my collection.
'Austerlitz' and 'Berezina' from Histoire and Collections to add to my collection.
I think St. Nicolas was very kind last night to me and mine. Oh, and breakfast and dinner with all four of my adult children.

nevinsrip25 Dec 2018 11:52 p.m. PST

All books.

The 4 volume set of "Nothing But Blood and Slaughter".
A replacement copy of "The Road To Guilford Courthouse".
"The Road to Valley Forge", also by Buchanan.

Two Osprey books:
Savannah 1779
Forts in the AWI

I skimmed through the two Osprey books and the Savannah looks particularly disappointing. The illustrations are
poor. There's a 2 page spread of a British officer sitting in a tree looking out over a formation that you can't make out. I'll reserve judgement until I actually read the entire book.

Old Wolfman26 Dec 2018 7:44 a.m. PST

New pair of Champions gym shoes, and sox. Gave the missus some sox and perfume.

14th NJ Vol26 Dec 2018 8:59 a.m. PST

A TV so I can watch American Hero's Channel ( variously known as Adolf Hitler Channel or Alien Hyteria Channel) and the ever popular Military History Channel . Famous for the film clips of 1940 Battle of France narrated to the story of the Battle of the Bulge. All in glorious HD.

Personal logo deadhead Supporting Member of TMP26 Dec 2018 9:28 a.m. PST

I had to respond to 14th NJ Vol personally as he (?she of course is a possiblity, we must not assume these days?) prompted a major discussion in this household between two 23 year old lads and their 65 year old dad…all fuelled by Christmas good cheer.

Mother took to the kitchen.

That response is worth a new thread all on its own. The stupid use of archival film, totally inappropriate to the text, in Cable/satellite Channels. My vote is for Capital ship bows ploughing through waves, in heavy seas, for anything from Pearl Harbour (sorry, Harbor) to Jutland. Or that Avenger dropping a torpedo, viewed from high on its top left, that I have seen appear in docs about the Bismarck, Taranto and Coral Sea.

Major B26 Dec 2018 4:33 p.m. PST

Four 90mm figures for my The Fantasy Trip Old School project. Two wizards: one from BBI and one from Papo; A Papo skeleton (sadly does not stand on his own); & a Safari Werewolf. Great figures.

Lion in the Stars26 Dec 2018 9:47 p.m. PST

I think AussieAndy is the big winner, with a whole new house to fill with minis!
