guys looking at this truck on ghq website cckw 353 with 40mm bofors and wondering did the us army use it ww2,understand the free french were issued it but can't find reference to us army use of it? link |

From a quick search, it looks like the US Army used towed single Bofors and a twin mount on a tracked chassis – M19 which was very late war and served in Korea. The half tracks used a relatively low powered 37mm, usually combined with .50 MGs. |

This was a special conversion done by the Free French in workshops in England prior to D-day. No-one else had them. The survivors of NWE eventually were shipped to Indo china. |

the only guns mounted on usa 6x6 trucks seem to be .50 hmg and the quad .50 m16 maxson turrets. 37 of the bofors ones were made by the french and only used by them. |
