Where can I find the historical organizations for various armies sections and platoons? Right now I am doing 1940 French.

Is there such a thing as Bolt Action suggested armies? That is an army list that I can just plug and play for 500 and 1000 point armies? Without having to go and figure it out.

Yes I am a little lazy but I am not interested in using points as I prefer to build to historical scenarios. But my club seems to be obsessed with points. So I need to placate them with as less pain as possible.

With a little help I got it figured it out using the army builder. Got some great scenarios form Skirmish Campaigns. So I am set.

For a historical reference you might use Quality Castings' "The Gamer's Guide to WWII Small Unit Organizations and TO&Es"; squad and platoon organizations for all the major combatants (and some of the minors) with equipment specified down to the last pistol.

See: niehorster.org

Neihrster is excellent for German OB's – he generally sites the KstN number of the OB (the official German army designation number). His others are good.

Join the Yahoo TO&E group. Their files are detailed beyond description. Helpful group with questions. Extensive coverage of various WWII nations and unit variations. Many periods covered. Amazing detail from division down to squad level.

Gamer's Guide has a lot of errors in it, but it is mostly correct.

I built a 12mm French WW2 1940 army.

I put all my notes here:
