I am thinking of getting into HO railroading and wondered if anyone knows of good forums like TMP but about HO or model railroading? I have a 1 1/2 year old grandson and I am planning for the future outside of military miniatures.
Thank you.

The NMRA (National Model Railroad Association) is the overarching portal to American model railroading, while Model Railroader (MRR) is probably the best and most used hobby magazine. You can't go wrong with either one.

NMRA sets and regulates all the scale standards to ensure everything fits together, unlike our unregulated wargaming hobby.

Have fun!

Railroad Model Craftsman provides a second monthly magazine.

rrmodelcraftsman.com

And then there's the wishbook/bible from Walthers in print or online.

You did not indicate era. If your interest is in ACW era trains, sadly two of the best sources on the Internet have gone inactive, namely the Yahoo Groups Earlyrails and Civil War Railroads. For data on southern railroads I would recommend the web site Confederate Railroads. On youtube I would suggest YouTube link . Also there is usmrr.blogspot.com . There is more if you are interested but that can give you a start.

A mother load of inspiration is railroad-line.com/. The forums are a great resource and Mike Chambers' Craftsman's Corner is a rabbit hole you could spend days in.

A number of facebook groups have sprung up recently. Most are quite interesting.
