I finished two of the Primaris Redemptor Dreadnought kits. One was the full-priced standard kit and the other was the cheaper, Easy Build kit.

I painted, detailed and weathered both of them in the same way using the same paints and washes. I chose to give one a darker weathering finish than the other for some contrast.

For general tabletop aesthetic the two kits look virtually identical in detail and quality when fully painted. If you look closely at some components you can see where they took some shortcuts and streamlined the Easy Build version somewhat.

But the differences are minor in terms of the overall look. The biggest difference component-wise is that with the Easy Build you don't get any weapons options. It only comes with the Gatling Gun and power hand thing. One other difference is that with the standard version you can actually open the front hatches and see the details inside, whereas with the Easy Build they are all molded as being closed.

The standard version is also more poseable and has more articulation in the arms and legs.

But if you don't mind having less options, the Easy Build kit is a great way to economically collect a Primaris force.

Nice comparison. If I was going to convert one to chaos, which do you think would be easier?

Thanks for the feedback!

@PatrickWR,

Hmmm that's an interesting question. Well, for fast building I would say the Easy Build would be great for conversion. On the other hand you might want to have more parts and more options if you're going to be doing major conversions to it.

Personally if I was to make a chaos one out of it, I'd go with the more expensive one just so I had all of those extra parts and bits.

But if you already have a bunch of left over bits from other kits ready to add to it to make it chaos, I would definitely go with the Easy Build and then just add whatever you want to it!

I love building the basic versions of kits. I'm lucky to have far too many bits so I'm generally able to kit-bash details.
Keep it coming!
