Out of curiosity, are there any good fantasy/alternate history skirmish pirates games, using 25-32mm miniatures that people are playing nowadays? Are there any good ones coming up soon? I'm looking for actual skirmish games, not board games or naval games where you just use ships.

What do you mean by the word fantasy here? Like orcs, dragons and fireballs or like undead pirate crew or something else?

Seventh Street Games' "Pirates" uses large- scale ships and 25mm figures for crews. The combat mechanics for shooting and melees is pretty basic, but could be used for skirmishing on land as well; or you could just substitute something like "Chainmail" man- to- man rules for the crews and leave the ship- to- ship bit the same.
