I've some pretty good books on medieval warfare, but generally speaking it's always an on-going mass of new learning and info… So what's the latest on the longbow? I'm especially interested in its Welsh origins, and when the Welsh began to use it in sufficient numbers to discomfit their enemies. Thanks in advance! |

This is so new it isn't out yet! I've read his Osprey Weapons volume on the crossbow and found it was full of new and interesting ideas and not just a rehash of old historical platitudes. link |

Strickland & Hardy's The Great Warbow is still the best available comprehensive work. Richard Wadge and Soar have also done useful work in this area (Soar has lots of modern test re effectiveness v. armor etc.) TomT |
