They even have kimchee on the buffet at one of the local Asian eateries ! "The Horror … the horror !" I even talked to one guy that goes there who likes it !?!?!?! And he ain't a from the ROK !!!!?!?!?! Or Asian !!!???! |

I've had good kimchee. I've also had bad kimchee. Good kimchee is really good. Bad kimchee is horrifying.
My stepdad had a Korean student working for him on the civil engineering projects (stepdad's thing was creating a computer model to predict how much silt/soil erosion you'd get on various road surfaces, given how much water hit them). Jun hated Kimchee with a passion. Seems that the two years he'd be conscripted the farmers had a bumper crop of cabbage, which the RoK government bought up to prevent a price crash. So the RoK troops got ALL the kimchee they could eat, every meal.

Agreed, the good stuff is excellent. I've been lucky not to have any bad stuff. The time my sister-in-law opened a jar at a rest stop in Arizona when it was over 100 degrees….not so good. |
