I have a question for all you 7 Years War scholars out there. I have been studying Kronoskaf, Project Seven Years War for some time now and I am trying to determine how many Grenz Hussars and from which regiments were actually assigned to scouting, foraging, and other klienkreig duties. It says that each grenz battalion, tactically, had 2 squadrons assigned to it, but then in another part it says that particular unit only sent 1 squadron to the Austrian army. And then again in another OOB it says that 2 contingents of Grenz-Hussars totaled 1,900 troops, those are some reeeally big squadrons.

From my understanding of the function of the Austrian grenzer, some of the mounted and foot troops were retained on the border (grenz) with the Ottomans even when Austria was fighting against European opponents such as the Prussians and the Napoleonic French. So the statement von Schwartz made about only one of two squadrons of grenz-husaren being sent to the Austrian field army makes sense.

I can't comment on the strengths however.
