As I'm sure many of you know, Lancashire Games has re-released the Venexia line of 15mm Italian Wars Figures (to the great joy and celebration of many). I am heavily interested in them, but there are no pictures for most of them on Lancashire's site. Has any one purchased these figures and can could tell me what they look like? I'm particularly interested in the generic pikemen/arquebusier packs, as well as their their mounted crossbowmen/arquebusiers, and their Swiss. |

I have purchased them, but haven't seen them in quite some time. Never got around to painting them. They are superb though, so highly recommended, and much sought after when they were OOP for a while. |

Are they the same as the original Venexia figures or will they blend in with the originals? Maybe they are better than the originals which had some major flash problems particularly with their hands. I have some originals and like GARS1900 above I am hesitant to buy in the absence of website photographs (I wish manufacturers would realise this in this day and age). Any photographs would be greatly appreciated. Regards |

I was interested in their Ottoman range for any figures I could use to expand my 7YW era army and for anything from the Italian wars range I could use for the French Wars of Religion alongside possibly Alternative Armies figures. I had spoken to Lancashire Games at Warfare and was told that pictures would be up very soon but as time passed I went and bought a few packs of possible suspects including generic pikemen advancing (Ref GI13). Size wise the two are compatible but the Venexia ones are a little thinner with thin bases, not enough of a difference to prevent them being used together. My Venexia figures came without Pikes; I don't know if this is normal as nothing is mentioned that I can see nor are Pikes an option to be bought separately. When I chased up my order (5th Dec) I was told that the pics had been delayed due to illness and that they would be put up soon. Sorry no pics my side either at the moment |

The Venexia figures are the top of the line for 15mm Renaissance. I have about a dozen of their units painted up that have appeared in our games over the years. All of the pics on our club site would take some interpretation as to which units are Venexia and which are other manufacturers, but trust me, just buy them! |

I have bought a few of them from Lancashire. The figures I received are pretty much flash free. Good price too. link has photos of a lot of the range. I don't have the Swiss though an old review of them on the DBMlist reckons they are in clothing which looks more high gothic rather than the slashed gear. A comment by the old UK stockist says that the Swiss are a bit smaller than their other figures and would mix well with Mirliton. |

My thanks to all. I hope I am not hijacking GARS1900's thread. Mr Steve – Has Lancashire Games commented on the absence of pikes. Can I assume the mounted men have lances or spears? I do remember that the old Venexia figures had very bad hands and it was very difficult to glue the lances and pikes to them. |

Wargamorium: I have sent Allan an e-mail regarding the pikes, I will post the answer when I get it. Regarding cavalry , I bought 1 pack each of OT10 Balcanic Cavalry and OT07 Light Cavalry unbarded and they both have separate spears on arms however I will have to hollow out the bodies of OT07 as there is no corresponding deep depression in the bodies to take the knobble bits on the separate arms. This concerns me a little as superglue isn't the greatest for long term attachment and I am terrible at pinning. |

Here's the Venexia web page in 2003, courtesy of the Wayback machine: link With this as a start you should be able to find old links to some of the figures you want to see. |

SWampster – if they look Gothic, thats fine, I guess. Oh, well. Thanks folks. I guess I just wait for Lincolnshire Games to release the photos. I hope he's doing ok… |

Speedy response as usual from Allan at Lancashire games. When the moulds were received from the US there were no pikes included so figures are supplied without. They are however discussing with others regarding possible supply but this will be a while before anything gets announced. |

Mr. Steve and Dennis. Thank you for your responses. I am still hesitant to buy until they post pictures on their website. The new figures have to be an improvement over the old which, though lovely figures, had too much flash and weapon problems. Gars1900 – I do apologise if I hijacked your thread. Regards |

I think Khursan is planning on a range of Italian wars range. Based on his 16th century range these should be great. I have Venexia and they are great but have a feeling the Khusran ones will be just as good. |

I agree with Wargamorium. This much hyped range is very well sculpted but there are problems. After buying many of them on the internet before the re release, I was frustrated with mounting weapons in hands. Totally time consuming beyond reason. Also, the basic pikemen seem to have no consistency in the direction the pikes are held. Very odd and challenging to mount them to resemble a pike block. |

the Venexia range will be up soon, struggled with some health problems but ok now and work is busy but this weekend should see the pictures taken and uploaded, The figures are superb so wait and see. I can tell you now the flash problem on the figures is not there they are nice clean and crisp. I am looking to get a metal wire supplier so you can buy the pikes at the same time, watch this space, or at least the website on Monday……. |

Thanks Marmont. I will check the website next week. Regards |

hi guys got a large order of venexia spanish this week from allan at lancashire games great figures no problems with flash in the hands highly recommended. lancashire are a top company run by a great bloke well done allan donal |

Good to see some pictures on the site. Do the gendarmes come without lances? If so is there a source? Lances of this era I'd expect to be tapered with the hand protection so wire won't do. |
Swampster | 18 Dec 2018 10:37 a.m. PST |
I don't know if the Lancashire figures come with a lance The original packs did. Donnington do a 'tapered lance' which may well be the right sort as an alternative source. It may sound a right pain, but it isn't too bad making some. I used the technique shared by Midlander here link I did a few at a time and quickly made quite a good number. I think they look better than most cast versions. |

Thanks. My modelling skills – and time available – have declined over the years but I might give it a try. |

It looks like Lancashire Games has put up photos for the Venexia Italian Wars range. They look pretty good. |
