Any news on when these rules might be published?

Schogun09 Dec 2018 3:29 p.m. PST

Author said he's holding off til next year so not to compete with Cruel Seas.

Judging by DM's initial review of Cruel Seas, perhaps he ought to get his rules out sooner, rather than later.

They take a different approach to CS so they scratch different itches. But I didn't see the point in having both appearing at the same time. So the effort at present is finishing off my squadron level WW2 set (which does have coastal forces craft, but at the flotilla level) and to bring NS out sometime late Q1 or Q2 next year.

btw – I do rather like CS, I've read so many posts and quotes from people saying its their first set of naval rules, their first naval game etc. and thats wonderful!

David Manley: +1

If NS and CS 'scratch different itches' then can there be a conflict of interests?

Probably not, but waiting seemed to be a good idea. Besides, I have a load of people after me to complete other projects first

David,
Please don't put out a rulebook that can only be played with the associated ship data cards that can only be obtained by buying your exclusive line of ship models. That really SUCKS!
I'll buy your rules as soon as they are available.

We are going to have to start a fan club for you at this rate Dave.

Hey! I carry that membership card in my wallet too! I'm such a fan, I accidentally bought one of his rules again, because it was a 50% off Deal of the Day on Wargames Vault, as I had forgotten I already owned it. Yes, I think Wargames Vault did mention somewhere before I purchased it that I already owned it, or I forgot to login, so it was my fault.

*shrug* It was only a few dollars, so I wrote it off as a bit of coin in the Manley tip jar.

That is not the case with Cruel Seas! The data for the ships is in the rule book

Hmmm, I think I'm a charter member of that society.

I remember when he would print rule for free in magazines, following the model of "The first one is free" to get me hooked.

Hi Dave,

For those that acquire the Cruel Seas 1/300 ships, will they be usable with your Narrow Seas game…even on a bigger table? What would recommend as a minimum if it'll work?

Thanks

HW
