Step 1 take a stack of cash
Step 2 add cheap plastic
Step 3 add expensive paint
Step 4 mix well

Best before next rules change.

Perhaps I should have responded sooner to the original cryptic post. The above link was very specific to 3rd Edition Warhammer Fantasy battle and posted to help people who are having trouble building a 1000 point list for The "Old World Army Challenge" painting competition. (It's more of a group paint than a competition, at least for me.)

I wrote a follow up post, pulling from White Dwarfs from the 90's that showcased some of the model range and techniques for painting skeletons.

If you read the post you will find that I do not necessarily endorse any particular brand of minitaures, paints or even materials. My current project includes both plastic and metal miniatures from GW, Reaper, Mantic and Skull and Crown.

I am also immune from rules changes as I play a set that is decades out of print. I have found other people that like to play it as well and there is no pressure to buy into the newest game, whatever that is. People who prefer something else are free to look elsewhere.

Step 1 perhaps actually read the link before commenting
Step 2 buy what ever miniatures you like
Step 3 paint them with whatever paints and methods you prefer.
Step 4 play with them with friends using rules you all like
Step 5 have fun and enjoy the hobby rather than be a downer and try to bring somebody else's hobby down.

repeat

Ouch!

I was simply commenting on the title. Being the official white dwarf guide, hense suggesting GWs point of view, which is to make money like any other company.

It's great your doing stuff with the older game.

I think my list still works for back then also, but not if buying from elsewhere, as you point out.

Sounds good H Man. Like I said I should have clarified Tango's cryptic post, but I didn't know he had posted a link right away and I had to reactivate my account to post.

Happy Holidays
