My gaming group is doing the Northern Crusades using Lion Rampant. I need shield designs for my Crusaders. My Sword Brothers are finished they were simple but my German, Danes and Swedes need designs for their shields and the period is around 1120-1150's.

Not much information available. The knight's shields I used heraldry I found online. For clarity I gave my Danish Crusader foot and mounted sergeants white crosses on red shields based on the origin story of the Danish flag from this period. I gave my Swedes yellow crosses on bright blue based on the Swedish flag for which I have no evidence whatsoever. The Hanseatic League have flags, in for the most part simple red and white designs, for the various cities. I chose white over red for Lubeck Sergeants shields. I also have generic German Foot Yeoman with simple geometric designs on the shields. The Pagans I gave geometric designs inspired in part by Viking period shields (assuming the Baltic region was quite backward) and Baltic Pagan runes. I'm not sure what to do for the Polish Crusaders, maybe a simple red cross on white?

Check out the gallery page on the Fireforge miniatutres website. They have a really nice gallery of Danish crusaders.
