Over at Hobby Games Recce I offer some of my initial thoughts on the Kickstarter campaign to bring Daniel Mersey's Battle Ravens to production. Although this kind of "battle game" might not engage die-hard wargamers, it offers a great opportunity to introduce kids and newcomers to the hobby with some fantastic production values and gameplay that gives players some meaningful choices to make. Share and enjoy. link |

I have signed up for this, my first Kickstarter, after watching the latest series of The Last Kingdom. It is reasonably priced and there are no figures to paint although, if l enjoy it, l might be investing in some plastic figures to paint and play with. |

Like Commands and Colors, Memoir 44, and Wings of War, these kinds of games are great ways to get newcomers in to the hobby. I might take this to a boardgame night, but use my painted figures and some nice terrain in place of the board. |
