Posties Rejects gathered at the weekend to fight a fictional Peninsular War battle set just a few days before the Battle of Salamanca in July 1812. This was a hard fought battle that was gripping from beginning to end but still resulted in a clear outcome. A full Battle report can be seen here: Battle of Vallesa

Interesting read. Nice looking table and figures. What rules please? I'm curious in what world heavy cavalry can hit infantry in line in the flank and not butcher them, much less lose?

Nice AAR – lots of white knuckle decisions!

Nice Bat rap and pictures!

I too am wondering of the rules!
Even Spanish Militia would stand until at least fired at. British veteran line leaving before any fire-really!
Yes, hvy cavalry that is able to close after fire, should typically end badly for the infantry.

Thanks for the comments.. We were using an in-house set of rules for this game. As for the French heavy cavalry, I'd been relentlessly targeting them for several turns so by the time they charged into melee they were already a damaged unit. Plus I was very lucky with the dice rolls for a change!
