I recently read The Good Shepherd by C. S. Forester. Only the second book I've read in one sitting. For those who aren't familiar with the book, it is a fictional account of a 48 hour U-boat attack on a large convey with a small escort. The story unfolds completely through the eyes of an American destroyer commander who is in charge of the escort. I haven't read a more intense story in a long time. It helps to understand course and bearing, but there is a glossary at the end that helps. I highly recommend it. |

I thought this was going to be about the movie "The Good Shepherd" which is a Cold War thriller. Wondering why it is on the WW II media board? link |

I thought it was going to be a tie-in to the upcoming Tom Hanks movie Greyhound. |
