A good friend of mine Rick Nance died last year. Rick introduced me to Command Decision and was a founding member of HAHMGS here in Kansas City. Rick produced a number of great games but he was always remembered for his Tarawa game. He produced the game in the early 1990's and had since sold off many of the figures. I had always wanted to reproduce the game in 10mm but never got around to it. After Rick's death I decided to off my butt and finally get after it. My goal was to make a visually stunning game that would make Rick proud. It has been a year long project that included a ton of research. I am 99% complete with my efforts and just in time to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the battle (20 Nov 1943). I am no image posting expert so I apologize in advance if the pictures don't post on my first attempt.

Wow, that looks awesome!

Thanks for sharing your photos.

I love the way you've created the islands and reef system.

I think you've done your friend proud, and he would appreciate your effort.

My only suggestion, and it is a minor one, is to not have the troops standing on the amtracs or landing craft, as they swim in to the beaches. I'd just place them in the water, or on the beach, when needed, since they cover up and take away a bit from the overall scenic effect of the vehicles, at least for me.

Thanks Thresher01. I did produce troops to fit inside the LVTs and had each base numbered as you suggested. I just lazy while play testing the rules! Thanks again.

I saw Rick's game at Twistercon back in the 90s and was so impressed with it. You have done a fitting tribute.

Are those the standard 3/4" bases or did you go a little bigger?
