Yes, as far as we know. It's still part of the Nuclear Triad. The ability to launch nucs from harden land sites, the air and sea.

For obvious reasons …

If interested, you can tour a museum of such, in South Dakota: official web page link. Love the phrase: "Worldwide Delivery in 30-minutes or Less" -- blatant rip-off of Dominos Pizza ad campaign.

I grew up in the 1970's, during the Cold War. We talked about nuclear war. Lived with the reality that if the nukes launched, it was better to pull out a lawn-chair, and watch the vapor trails (not sure there would be any, but…) from the incoming warheads, than to hide in a basement, and hope to survive. My hometown was a tertiary target, due to a meat-packing plant located there. Now I live in a secondary target city, where a major medical facility is located. Used to live in a primary target, metropolitan city -- I've regressed a bit… Cheers!

I served during the Cold War in the US Army as an Infantry Officer, '79-'90. WMD attacks were always planned for and we trained extensively … Not that you could really do little to anything if you get Nuc'd. evil grin We did have Chem Protective suits as well. And of course the threat of bio warfare was always there as well.

Glad we only had to practice … If any or all of those WMDs were used … it would have been very, very bad. For pretty much everybody … frown

There are still a few operational ground-based missile sites in the US.
