A miniature version of the famous Terra Cotta Army has been discovered that includes 100s of pieces. Were actual wargames played in China? link |

IIRC, there have been several "Terra Cotta Armies" discovered over the years, with the figures ranging is size from about a foot tall (or 30cm for the "Imperially-challenged"), to several feet (60 to 90-odd cms). TTBOMK, 秦始皇 (Qin Shi Huangdi) was the only one so audacious as to have his "Terra Cotta Army" cast up "life-sized." Or arguably, cast "Heroic" (like "Heroic 28mm" gaming figures!), given how tall they are, at something like six FEET (IIRC!), when the average human was more like five feet, five inches tall?? |

Maybe the "original" Terra Cotta army was a 1:1 wargaming army. Much like human chess. |

They must have been painted, otherwise the nobleman wouldn't be dead. |

The rank and file of the Terracotta Army proper are about 6' tall, the high command even taller, and various attendants are smaller, so there's some Egyptian-style equation of status and size going on. |
