Are there rules for barbed wire in this game? I know they have rules for minefields and mine clearing gear for engineers, but do they also cover barbed wire?

We played a scenario from another set using BA that included sections of wire. What we did, since we couldn't find anything was to treat each section of wire as impassible terrain for foot/wheeled vehicles, rough for tracked. To clear, foot had to clear ala mines – 5+ troops using an advance marker enters section and then using the modifiers, roll to remove on a 6+. Worked for us but wanted to see if anything "official" was out there..

Thanks!
Madcam.

Funny you should ask this, I was also wondering about wire but I am not going to buy all the books to get the little snippets of new rules they include.

FWIW, this is our house rule for barbed wire which I have modeled in 6 inch segments:

Infantry can use a Run or Advance to get to wire but must stop when they come in contact.

The next turn they must use a Down order to remove the wire. Then they can proceed as normal the next turn. They get the benefit of being Down.

This puts them at high risk while they sit there trying to get through the wire, which we feel is appropriate.

We allow AFV's to remove wire by moving through it. APC's cannot go through it until it is removed.

I'm sure some won't like those rules but our group does.

The Bolt Action Battle of France Campaign book has the following

Barbed wire is 6 inches long. Impassable to Infantry and Unarmoured vehicles.Infantry may attempt to cut a length of wire by coming into contact with it and using a down order on the next turn. A roll of 6 is required to cut a 6inch length of wire – each subsequent turn spent down gives a +1 to the roll culminating in a roll of 2+ of the fifth turn as a roll of 1 is always a fail.

Engineering units automatically are successful but still require a down order.

Any Unit can be equipped with wire cutters at a +1 points per model giving that unit a +2 to each dice roll when attempting to cut wires. If a section is successfully cut at any point the entire 6inch section is removed from play.

No kidding, we got it pretty damn close.

My only issue with the above is the benefits of being "Down" whilst trying to remove the wire… IMO infantry trying to remove wire is too busy with that chore to work on being harder to hit…

I like advance vs down and probably would play that in my own games..
