"We, at the Grimsby Wargames Society, have tried numerous rule sets for the Seven Years War. Some simple, some complicated and some home written. Some how it always comes back to Black Powder (and I've written numerous times on my feelings about them) and as such I continue to look for an alternative….."

Yeah I know what they mean, Black Powder doesn't do it for me either for a few reasons. |

I have played a couple of games of Seven Years war with BP and quite like it, but I understand it is not for everyone. |

I've tried most 7YW rules that have appeared over the last ten years and never really found one that suits me. Then I came across Keith Flint's home-grown set and thought they were really heading in the right direction, to the extent that I bought his Honours of War when they were published. No need to look any further. |

I too really like HoW rules. I am a fan of BP as a quick way to get into a period. BP games are really quick. I am intrigued by a lite version of HoW, truth be told I think HoW is already pretty light. We can usually finish a game with 50+ Regiments a side in an afternoon. Though we have found that if you deploy too far away that can add some time to the game with out much gain. Chris |
