Headed to Vienna on Sunday. Any recommendations for museums or hobby shops?

Thanks in advance.

I was just in Vienna 6 weeks ago and can echo the previous responses, the military museum, Schonbrunn, St. Stephen's and I'd add the Imperial crypt under the monastery who's name I can't recall. It's kind of freaky but interesting nonetheless. Also, if you go into the Albertina museum you can see where Archduke Charles lived, and breathed his last.

You might want to consider the Museum Twins on Maria Theresian Platz (just outside the Ring opposite the Hofburg): Art History and Natural History. The last houses an exhibition on the History of War right now, the former the Bruegel exhibition. The buildings alone are impressive.

Sorry – there are no longer any real hobby shops.

If you have got more time:
The museum Aspern (google for the details) – open only on Sundays from 10 to 12.
The Heimat und Napoleon-Museum Deutsch Wagram,
Erzherzog Carl-Straße 1, 2232 Deutsch-Wagram
Phone 02247 3790, open on Sundays from 10 to 16 – so you could do both. But check beforehand when they close for winter.

BTW: Lascaris means the Kapuzinergruft – well worth a visit.

Have a good time!

Within the Hofburg is a museum of medieval armor. Its quite extensive and worth the visit.

Some great recommendations here, particulalrly the Army Museum, which is spectacular. If you have time, you might also look in at the City Museum in Karlsplatz, some fascinating Ottoman booty on display. And, if you like a good curry, I can thoroughly recommend the Samrat restaurant in Florianigasse. Great service, excellent curry, good value!
