I am a little surprised the historical-only is that low. |

I'm not, the question is largely irrelevant to those who only do historical wargames so they probably just ignored it. |

The phrasing helped get the result. I'm 90-95% historical, but I couldn't keep 100 Dwarves on the payroll and say "historical only." And I could hardly say "I rejoice in all forms of gaming" and be even marginally honest. (Board games? Cooperative games? Those idiotic "icebreakers" so beloved of personnel departments? That's before I get to people running around in circles.) |

I'm surprised too. I voted historical only. I think the "Well pretty much…" affected the outcome. It gave an out to those who didn't want to sound snobbish. Which is crazy because it is a blind vote. I have observe on TMP that members and guest often take things to an extreme and are black or white with no gray area. I am sometimes guilty of this too. When you say you are a historical gamer only. Then they tend to take it literally. I have played fantasy and Sci-Fi before but I don't buy figures or read rules. I have spent thousands on my historical gaming hobby. I may play one LOR game every five years but I still consider myself historical only. The other thing is "whataboutism" they say well "what about the game where Custer brings a Gatling gun to Little Big Horn or what about when you added an optional platoon of tanks to that historical scenario, so now that is totally fantasy gaming." So even if they are actually historical only, they remember the time by back in 1992 when they played their first and last game of D&D. |

I have found that any game is purely historical if you don't do any research. That is my saving grace. |

I'm not surprised at all. |
