There are other, more regional monuments to the USCT. One is part of the Vicksburg (Miss.) National Military Park.

There's also the one to the 54th Mass in Boston. Dedicated in 1897.

I like the fact we've finally created a national monument for USCT, I just wish we, as a country, would get out of the habit of designating huge swaths of land as 'monuments'. That was never what that law was meant for.

Then there is the one in D.C. that was built in 1997 and has been managed by the Park Service since 2004.
