Thanks Armand. While working at the Mississippi Archives I came across a copy of the monthly return of the US Regiment of Marines from September 1847. It was a wonderful find. When I retired the department gave me a framed full-scale scanned copy as a retirement gift. I have it proudly hanging in my "war" room. It was among the papers of Brigadier General, later Governor of Mississippi, John A. Quitman who commanded the Volunteer Division including the Marine Regiment. Jim |
