* read the rulebook? * know their troops? * have the home field advantage? |

Have a hot dice rolling hand. But I really think it comes from a combination of knowledge of the rules and a clear understanding of the capabilities and tactics of your troops. But sometimes it just comes from having a hot dice rolling effort. Jim |

Rules that make more of tactics than just as play like ludo with expensive makers. Have played and read enough of real world tactics of the period to understand the troops capabilities. Understand the rules and have practiced so they can concentrate on tactics, not the rules. Plan beforehand but know when to change the plan to fit the evolving situation. Incredible hot dice will overcome everything in games that are dice driven (Bolt Action for example). I've had games where my opponents have told me "you did nothing wrong tactically" and have still been blown out & completely destroyed. Played a RF&F game where my opponent killed 36 of 55 of my stands while losing only 3 stands. Scenario was 6 turns. Dice in wargames are an overriding force.. |
