I'll be hosting Age of Eagles (Age of Valor – Revolution 1848) games at Fall In 18 come next week. Its also the first time I've done a game in 10 mm vice my traditional 15/18 mm.

Sooooooooo, the boss at wargamer.com let me write an article on my transition to 10 mm for the 1849 battle of Komorn with appropriate ruminations and thoughts. Enjoy!

Great article, Bill. All so very true. As an older gamer myself, I went to smaller scales long ago for much of the same reasons. Hope to meet up with you at Fall In. (Owe you a beer or coffee anyway.) I will bring along some specialty books I picked up in Germany for show N Tell (NOT to sell). Pretty sure you haven't seen a few of them unless you've recently been to the Heer Museum in Wein (Vienna). Covers the Honved and K.u.K and K.w.K pretty well.

Again, a great article and I hope a lot of folks here on TMP read it fully, also.

I read it and enjoyed it. I'd love to play in a Hungarian Revolution scenario but cannot attend :(

I have heard of a similar painting method with 6mm figures. I've never tried it, but it sounds like it has merit. To me, a game will still take up the same amount of table size. I would not drop stand size along with figure size, I would just pack more smaller figures on to the same sized stand.

79th PA, yes, that is exactly what I did. The scale is for 15 mm, but I just put more 10 mm on the same stand. I think it looks great so far.
