A little late, but I was enthralled with the ALCS and World Series!

Very nice write up. My grandfather used to take me to Fort Devens when I was just a little guy, back in the mid-60's. I have fond memories of him showing me the inside of a tank there (he was a tank commander in WW2 North Africa) and sharing some of his knowledge and experiences.

I was born at Ft. Devens at the old hospital (WW2 era) in 1956. Because my dad was an Army Security Agency guy, and because he was from Peabody, we had multiple tours there when I was growing up and after he retired. I went there myself, TDY, when I was Army intel, obviously before it all closed. Great memories and it's too bad it ceased to be an active Army base or I would have fought to have tours there.

My grandfather was in an M24 Chaffee in Europe, and went through Devens on the way to Europe (he was from Fitchburgs as am I). The Devens hospital is now a Bureau of Prisons Hospital! I enjoyed my time there, mostly! It was nice to be in MA anyways.

BTW its Fitchburg! Also the Marathon Bomber was being held there after the BPD aerated him.
