Hi everyone:

What happened to the Vendel historical ancient ranges that were sold by Sgt. Major Miniatures? Are they being re-released by another company?

Thanks,
Matt

Yes, eventually. They were purchased by the owner of Thistle snd Rose. Tgey are working to get casting up and running.

Are you talking about the bear dudes from the movie, The Thirteenth Warrior?

Thanks.

Hmm. If I recall correctly, their figures were very "chunky", meaning lots of metal and very shallow detail. The poses were very static too.

Their border reivers are quite nice. I just painted a few dozen.

The Vendel figures are quite nice figures. Glad to hear that they are returning to production.

Yes, I held off on picking some up a bit too long.

We hope to have the Border Reivers and their fellow Vendel Fantasy and Ancient friends out by early next year.

There is a bit of work to do before we have them available.

Thanks Mark for posting the pictures of your figures.

I love the Vendel Fantasy. Their Dwarves are the best out there! :-)

Just because old threads never really die, for the record, the Vendel molds are now owned and figures are being cast by T&R Miniatures in the US. Find us on Facebook or PM me here on TMP.

We bought masters, molds and inventory. Some inventory was clearly below our standard as fellow gamers and has been cast back into the melting pot to be recast. That QC effort and the use/testing of some 100 production molds across the 3 lines (28mm Renaissance/Border Reiver, Fantasy, Ancients) has taken us 18 months.

We aren't veteran casters but we are getting more than acceptable quality when we cast. We are using top grade pewter. Where we have issues we will pull molds out of production and make new molds. (A new skill we will be learning in the next few months.)

We are shipping product. We have found that people like these figures, there is an immense variety in the figures, and that they are easy to paint. Great figures to start one's painting life. Those are all reasons we wanted to keep the lines available.

Thanks for reading.
