You wish you could paint better?
You wish you could afford better?
You are happy you just have them done for the game?
You really couldn't care less?

Lascaris28 Oct 2018 9:38 p.m. PST

E) I want to replace some that have had nicer figures released since I painted them.

Winston Smith28 Oct 2018 10:01 p.m. PST

I am satisfied.

I derive great pleasure from painting, and am more than satisfied with the results.

Except for the ones I stripped a couple of years ago. I didn't really like how those turned out. I'm going to repaint them soon.

Very happy with my results.
Wish I could paint better? Sure. Who doesn't?

Personal logo Gungnir Supporting Member of TMP28 Oct 2018 10:32 p.m. PST

They're okay, I guess. I've seen better, I've done worse in the past.

Personal logo Wolfshanza Supporting Member of TMP28 Oct 2018 10:54 p.m. PST

Would like to do better. Not a fast painter but tend to attempt speed painting to get an army done :/ They come out tabletop quality but no more.

nickinsomerset29 Oct 2018 1:12 a.m. PST

If I can get a useable force/army done quick time, great. Bit more time on Commander stands, but getting a Cavalry unit of 12 figs done over a day is standard.

I'm happy – but I enjoy painting and trying to improve is part of the process. In the end the only person you have to impress is you.

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 3:03 a.m. PST

I paint slowly & usually am satisfied with the results. On a scale of 1-10 I'm probably a 4-5 range but I paint to relax & please myself.

Green Tiger29 Oct 2018 3:16 a.m. PST

They are pretty good and I think this hobby puts too much emphasis on painting quality- do you have table full of figures that look en masse? If the answer is yes you have no issue. If you want to spend hours turning each figure into master piece get some Historex figures or something…

Personal logo Flashman14 Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 3:31 a.m. PST

I have room for improvement.

Florida Tory29 Oct 2018 3:53 a.m. PST

Yes

I am--these days--almost always satisfied when I'm done painting. I am not always satisfied when they come out of the box for a game later.

Meaning in this case I shouldn't have put away Saturday's Hanoverian Hussars without fixing some things. Back out to the garage!

PzGeneral29 Oct 2018 4:15 a.m. PST

Quality, yes. Speed, no.

Speed, yes. Quality, no.

I agree very much with Joe's Shop.

Yes. I've found the balance I want between speed and quality.

I wish i could paint better, faster, and more.

KeithRK29 Oct 2018 5:28 a.m. PST

I am satisfied with them at the time I've finished painting them. A while later, when I'm looking at them I always find something I could have done better.

whitphoto29 Oct 2018 5:42 a.m. PST

It's a work in progress…

Personal logo Sgt Slag Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 6:16 a.m. PST

Yes. I only view them from arm's length, generally, so block painting + The Dip, gets armies on the table, and in the heat of battle. I fully intend to play with all of my figures before I die -- a date which is one day closer, every single day… Life is short. Make it sweet! Cheers!

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 6:31 a.m. PST

I am getting there – much better than I used to be but could do a bit better

Overall, though, satisfied (looking at my last painted unit, SYW Grenzers in 28mm)

Thomas O29 Oct 2018 6:33 a.m. PST

Yes, in general I am happy with what I have painted.

Personal logo etotheipi Sponsoring Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 6:36 a.m. PST

Overall, satisfied.

I enjoy painting and do a decent job. I tend to paint differently for different genres of game. So, for example, 18th and 19th Century pirates with lots of tribal tattoos might have more detail than four-colour superheroes, but that doesn't mean they aren't done to the same standard.

goragrad29 Oct 2018 6:53 a.m. PST

Would like to have finer motor control, but that is biology.

One looks to improve as one gains experience, but I am well enough satisfied with all of the figures I have painted.

Others have complimented them, so while not perfect, they work for me.

Old Contemptibles29 Oct 2018 7:32 a.m. PST

You wish you could paint better?

Simply cannot paint the way I used to. Not happy with my efforts at all. I now outsource most of my painting. Very happy with those figures.

Beowulf Fezian29 Oct 2018 9:17 a.m. PST

I am very satisfied with my painted miniatures.

TMPWargamerabbit29 Oct 2018 9:18 a.m. PST

Reason one for the spray can. Reason two,,,, need more spray cans of different colors. Reason three….. primer is a color. Tank miniature painting is simple so far…… just need to improve the track painting, the worn metal weathering stuff and the occasion wooden handle on shovel difficulty.

eddy195729 Oct 2018 10:08 a.m. PST

I am satisfied, but the next will always be better then the previous ones.

Personal logo miniMo Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 10:35 a.m. PST

Painted figures are good figures!

I just always wish I had more of them ~,~

machinehead Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 10:58 a.m. PST

I'm happy with my painting but not with how long it takes to get them there. Some vehicles take me over 8 hours start to finish.

Timmo uk29 Oct 2018 11:11 a.m. PST

Yes, I wish I could paint 28mm better and I keep trying to improve. I think I've got a bit better at faces recently. I'm happy with what I can do with figures smaller than 28mm.

I wish I could paint faster.

I wish I could afford to have figures painted beautifully. To counter that sentiment I think a collection becomes far more personal and precious when it is all your own brush work.

Personal logo Parzival Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 11:19 a.m. PST

Satisfied, for the most part. Painting is not my fave thing, but I do try to make my little guys look as good as I can. Helps that I mainly paint 10mm, which are easy to do a decent job on.

Personal logo Herkybird Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 11:48 a.m. PST

I am never happy with my painting, especially after seeing all the lovely ones that appear on TMP!

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 12:16 p.m. PST

After 31 years still nope.

14Bore29 Oct 2018 12:39 p.m. PST

Good question
I certainly have gotten better and very noticeable difference of the oldest troops (1981-2) I have. I have repaintedmany units and plan when I get to the end ( will always add some but more likely vehicals)To start over with the worst painting jobs.

KSmyth29 Oct 2018 1:22 p.m. PST

I'm happy. They could be better. Heck I've done better. But I've also entered a painting comfort zone that allows me to be pretty productive with the time that I have.

whitphoto29 Oct 2018 1:25 p.m. PST

I'm not UNsatisfied enough to pay someone else to do it….

BrockLanders29 Oct 2018 3:52 p.m. PST

I seem to have hit a ceiling when it comes to painting my 28mm figs, whenever I try new techniques they just come out different, not better. I'm fairly happy with the level I'm at however. On a happier note my terrain making has been steadily improving

Hal Thinglum Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 4:42 p.m. PST

I wish I could paint as I used to twenty years ago. It was an average wargames quality job but it was fast and I enjoyed it. Now I can't make myself paint. I always liked large armies and it worked out well for me painting on my own. Now I farm out my painting and although it is inexpensive enough to allow me to have large armies painted, it is not up my quality.

Mooseworks829 Oct 2018 6:48 p.m. PST

I am satisfied with my painting but still want to improve.

Personal logo Tacitus Supporting Member of TMP29 Oct 2018 7:49 p.m. PST

Eyes getting worse as painting gets better. Or maybe my painting looks better because my eyes are getting worse…

mghFond29 Oct 2018 8:53 p.m. PST

I am satisfied til I look at the some of the great collections and wargames online and realize I can never do that. Oh well, painting is a part of the hobby and I do enjoy the hobby.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP30 Oct 2018 7:02 a.m. PST

Generally yes, and if I think I can do a better job on something I painted years ago … I go back and redo it !

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP30 Oct 2018 7:59 a.m. PST

I'm sometimes reasonably satisfied.
Other times not at all.

COL Scott ret31 Oct 2018 11:27 a.m. PST

I only try to please myself, and my quality has improved. Quantity has not improved, less time spent painting or gaming then I would want. Some is life cropping up for the last year plus, some is just plain motivation to start.
